“Yoga is practicing the art of being human.” - Me, AF

AFTON

ABOUT

I am an IAYT-certified yoga therapist with over 15 years of teaching experience.  I work with individuals of all ages, shapes, and sizes. My specialization in yoga therapy focuses on pelvic floor health, specifically for women in their perinatal phase of life.

Other areas I can assist clients with are:

  • Pain management and mitigation*

  • Postural alignment

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Anxiety and/or depression*

*these services work best when in conjunction with your healthcare provider

My in-studio yoga classes are welcoming to all bodies and levels. In them I will challenge, move, and support you in ways that aim to reintroduce you to yourself over and over again, so that you may begin to see more clearly the innate, powerful wisdom that lies within. Please find my in-class offerings on the Calendar page.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve been exploring a range of yoga modalities and would love to meet you on the mat for a practice that weaves together postures, breathwork, meditation, and gentle self-exploration. I believe yoga offers a path toward discovering the intricacies that make you uniquely you, while helping your brain and body remember how to work together in greater harmony.

I’m endlessly fascinated by human potential and see yoga as a powerful way to stay connected to our humanness while cultivating personalized, radiant health.

Yoga Therapy Thesis

Explore my Yoga Therapy research project, where I guided a group of five postpartum women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) through a six-week yoga intervention designed to relieve their symptoms. Watch the video to see the outcomes of this rewarding and insightful process - one that deepened my understanding of both therapeutic practice and data collection along the way.

Yoga Talk #3

I had the honor of sitting down with long time friend and studio-owner, Jeff Chen of Pure Yoga Texas, for a chat about my yoga journey and where I find myself now. Have a listen or a look-see to get to know more about me, my journey from yoga competitor to yoga mom to yoga therapist, and how yoga relates to my life today.
